The Sunward Storage Tank

The Sunward Storage Tank arrives pre-plumbed and ready for easy conection to the Heat Exchanger and your existing hot water system. This glass lined tank provides storage for up to 80 gallons of piping hot water and it comes with a 10-year warranty.

A. 80-GALLON GLASS-LINED STORAGE TANK

What it is: This tank provides extra storage capacity for your solar-heated water, reducing by up to 85% the amount of oil, gas, or electricity your existing water heater uses.

Why it’s better: The tank is separate from the Heat Exchanger. Other systems use tanks with built-in heat exchangers. This means that when the tank wears out you have to replace the whole unit, including the Heat Exchanger — which is the most expensive part of the system. Plus, our Storage Tank is included with the Sunward System. (Many systems are sold without tanks and this can come as an unpleasant, last-minute surprise!)

B. PRE-PLUMBED CONTROLS

What it is: This array includes a thermal mixing valve, temperature gauges, and nearly all the plumbing required to tap into your existing hot water system.

Why it’s better: Because it’s made in our factory, it is precise and fully pressure-tested so it eliminates considerable labor at the job site. Your plumber only needs to make two cuts into your cold water inlet to connect the Sunward System.

C. STAINLESS STEEL FLEX-PIPE and COUPLINGS

What they are: These high quality couplings connect your Storage Tank and Heat Exchanger quickly and easily with just a wrench.

Why they’re better: They eliminate the need for fussy (and expensive) fixed plumbing and soldering in the connections between the Heat Exchanger and Storage Tank.
