Micro-Tubing

Sunward Solar Hot Water System – Features

< PreviousNext >

The primary benefit of Sunward Micro-Tubing is that it replaces the rigid copper tubing used in most other solar hot water systems. Because it’s smaller and flexible, it’s much easier to work with and eliminates the need for joints and soldering, which can fail and leak over time.

A. Micro-Tubing

What it is: 3/8″-diameter copper tubing transfers the heated Glycol mixture from the Solar Collectors to the Heat Exchanger.

Why it’s better: With our smaller-diameter tubing, capillary action forces out air, eliminating the need for priming the system, which simplifies installation. Other systems use 1/2″ and 3/4″-diameter copper, which requires extra labor and expense to cut and solder joints at every turn. Sunward Micro-Tubing is flexible, so it can be shaped and snaked from the collectors to the heat exchanger. Our tubing is also a fraction of the cost of 3/4″ insulated lines for other systems, yet transports as much or more heat energy.

B. Insulation

Foam insulation minimizes the loss of heat as the heated glycol travels from the Collector to the Heat Exchanger.

Additional Features:

- Long lengths (up to 100 feet standard) make it possible to eliminate joints in walls, floors and ceilings. This improves safety by minimizing the potential for leaks.

- Flexible copper tubing is a proven technology for transporting fluids, and has been used successfully with natural gas systems for over 30 years in the United States and Canada.

Specifications:

- (2) 50-foot sections are included with each Sunward System
